The flow of expatriate income has stopped since July 16 due to the deterioration of the law and order situation across the country centered around the quota reform movement and the imposition of curfew, internet shutdown and bank closures for a few days.

But only a month ago, in June, the highest remittances in almost four years came to Bangladesh.  The amount of which was two decimal 54 billion dollars.

This is about 16 percent higher than the same period last year.

According to the information of the Central Bank, due to the shutdown of the internet and the closure of banking channels, the remittances in the week of July 19th to July 24th came to the country only seven million and eighty million dollars.

But in the first 18 days of the month, an average of 7.9 million dollars remittances came every day.

On July 16, the quota reform movement intensified.  At one point, the government imposed a curfew and deployed the army.  As banking operations were virtually closed from 19th July to 23rd July, it was not possible to receive expatriate income through the banking channel.
